Direction in Drudgery

“Discipline gives direction in drudgery.”

I cant guarantee you much in life but I can guarantee you this. At one point you will be board with what your life is like right now. Whether that be for 5 minuets day or a month or a year, we have all had it. We are prone to want the next biggest thing and sometimes we are just stuck where we are. This could be explained as drudgery. We tend to loose focus and just “Survive” until we get to the next thing. But this really is a huge waste of time. How long do we spend doing this and loosing those precious seconds? One of my favorite quotes is this

“There are two things in this world you cant take back. Bullets and words. So make sure you hit what you aim at and mean what you say.”

Id go as far as to say there are three things. Time. So make sure you hit what you aim at, mean what you say, and do what needs doing now. But what does discipline have anything to do with it? Well as the opening quote says, discipline give us direction when we are just “surviving”. And I cannot stress this enough. Ok story time.

When I was younger I was really messy. Like you couldn’t see my floor at any point kind of messy. When I was probably 6 ish my parents had had enough and they moved me and my meticulously clean older sister in the same room. Now my sister would go so far as to crawl around plucking the smallest thing from the carpet to keep her room in pristine condition. And well we already talked about my floor. Well a few good fights and years later we parted ways – when she moved to collage. That’s right the two of us shared a room for about 10 years. So how? The key is compromise. When we got out (like it’s a prison. Lol.) She was practically clean and I was dutifully clean. At this point you are probably yet again thinking how this relates. Well in the story we defined two different types of clean. Meticulously clean and Dutifully clean. Some of us are by nature clean, some not so clean. But the point is that both are clean in some manner but none by just chance.

The point is kinda like working out, even if you hate something once you do it for long enough it becomes a habit and suddenly when you sad your start cleaning your room for comfort. So stick with stuff. Don’t give up when things get rough because soon your room wont get messy from stress you will clean it up. It gives you purpose and direction.
