“Where the heck have you been?” Hetz asked Jack as soon as she walked through the girls locker room doors.

“Oh, you know, riding a unicorn In Neverland.” She said brushing past him and toward the library.

“No seriously. Where have you been?” He said it seriously, too seriously to Jack.

“Ya know when someone tells you they were in Neverland they are just finding a very creatively sarcastic way to tell you to mind your own business. She continued on her way, forcing past him.

“Yes, usually I would agree, but when its coming from your best friend you get a bypass. Plus you're my spy partner so… Like I could always just track you. I'm just giving you a chance to fess up.”

“I was at home.” she said with a sigh.

“Ok. Why?”

“Bru can I not be at my house?”

“Yes you can but you had a shift. We were supposed to be working together on that gang threat. But because you weren't here it was just me.”

“You're always boasting about how you can hold your own. I was just giving you a chance. Besides I took leave, so I was in the official clear too.”

“Is everyone ok? Your family?”

“Yeah everyones fine.”

“Ok well I hate to keep bringing this up but… why did you take the leave?”

“I… wasn't feeling well?”

“Jack, that wasn't a question you should answer with another question.”

“Hetz I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I am not going to tell you.”

“Fine.” he said, throwing his hands up. “Fine fine fine. Have it your way.” he walked away. Shes hiding something. He thought. And I am going to find out what.

“Hello?”

“Hi Cap, Its Hetz. So this is kinda weird but what was Jack doing yesterday?” He heard Jacks little brother hesitate before answering.

“Dude she is gonna kill you. But like cant you track that?”

“Yeah I know where she was, I just want to know what she was doing.”

“Just so you know your borderline creepy but also like the most savage best friend in the world. Our house flooded because the washer broke.”

“Why didn't you guys call me?” Hetz asked sitting down.

“Bro you know her! She would rather do things by herself and be super pissed about it the whole time, then ask for help.”

“Your not wrong.” Hetz mused. “Ok well thanks for letting me know Cap. Have a good one.” He tossed his phone up in the air, caught it and glanced at his reflection in it. To his surprise he had a worried look written all over his face. What is up with her? I mean its not my fault that she doesn't know how to ask for help. I offer her help all the time! She just never excepts it! That's not on me! Is it?

“Jack come here.” Hetz said, motioning for her to join him.

“Im working.” she didn't even look up from her textbook and computer, but in truth she wasn't really working.

“Can you give me three minuets?” She looked very tempted to pass him up on his offer when he showed her a Red bull can. “Three minutes.” She got up to follow him reluctantly but a quick sprint into the training arena and then up the hundreds of stairs to the top of the clock tower destroyed all the remaining annoyance she had built up in her from Hetzes interruption of her work. Hetz had in fact bet on the fact, if she was still mad when she arrived this wouldnt work.

“First of all.” Jack said. “It's been more than three minuets.” He shoved the Red bull into her hand and led her over to the window sill.

“Remember the first time you took me up here?”

“Yeah, I wanted to push you off.”

Hetz laughed. “Yes. I remember feeling like you might. I wasn't a very easy person to train in.”

“So stubborn.” Jack agreed.

“You’re one to talk.” He said, giving her a significant look.

“I am?” she asked, feigning innocence.

“Heck yeah you are.” He looked at her, sipping red bull and avoiding eye contact. “Why didn't you tell me that you needed help?”

“I didn't.”

“Drop the act Jack. It's just me.”

“You're exactly who I'm worried about.”

“Why? Why the heck? Jack, why would you want to keep hidden from me?”

“I don't know just the fact that sometimes I'm not the me you know.”

“Arnt we all?” she looked at him surprised. “We're all different at different times. We all have someone we hide. In fact the important thing is not what you hide about yourself. Its about who you show yourself to.” he looked at her green eyes, framed in slightly smudged mascara. “So spill. The. Tea.”
