The watch tan race

“MacArthur! What do you think you're doing?”

“Do you think that leaving your hand under a light for long enough will make it will tan?”

“No, wrong kind of light.”

“Shoot.” He said, rubbing his warm hand.

“Why are you trying to tan your hand?”

“Me and Jack are having a competition to see who has the worst watch tan by the end of the summer. And she's winning.”

“I'm down.”

“What?”

“I'm down to join the competition. August 31st we check.”

“Is Matt in?”

“He usually is.” Hetz had to admit, a competition with just him and Jack would have been a fun way to spend the summer. But when you add the older half of Foxtrot in the mix things really got interesting.

The summer proceeded with Jack working consistently with her hand out a window, Hawk litrily not coming inside on any of his off days, Matt I swear going to a tanning salon or something, and Hetz staying strikingly white.

On August 31st they all took off their watches. In order to have an unbiased judging they stuck their hands through holes in a sheet of cardboard and waited as Turtle judged them. After what was much longer than needed Turtle came around to their side and said. “It was Matt.”

The rest of Foxtrot erupted with protests.“But he cheated!” Jack yelled.

“It can't be!” Hawk said, gazing at the white streak on his wrist.

Hetz just whimpered, because despite how much time he had spent out in the sun he was the same pasty white as before.
